The V–Si system is reassessed based on a critical literature review involving recently reported data and the present experimental data. These new data include the thermodynamic stability of V 6Si5 and the enthalpies of formation for the compounds calculated by first-principles method. Two alloys were prepared in the region of (Si)+V Si2 and annealed at 1273 K for 14 days. After X-ray diffraction (XRD) and chemical analysis of these alloys were performed, the eutectic reaction (L⇔(Si)+V Si2) temperature was determined by differential thermal analysis (DTA). Self-consistent thermodynamic parameters for the V–Si system were obtained by optimization of the selected experimental values. The calculated phase diagram and thermodynamic properties agree well with the experimental ones. Noticeable improvements have been made, compared with the previous assessments. 相似文献

Increasingly, software systems are constructed by integrating and composing multiple existing applications. The resulting complexity increases the need for self-management of the system. However, adding autonomic behavior to composite systems is difficult, especially when the constituent components are heterogeneous and they were not originally designed to support such interactions. Moreover, entangling the code for self-management with the code for the business logic of the original applications may actually increase the complexity of the systems, counter to the desired goal. In this paper, we address autonomization of composite systems that use CORBA, one of the first widely used middleware platforms introduced more than 17 years ago that is still commonly used in numerous systems. We propose a model, called Adaptive CORBA Template (ACT), that enables autonomic behavior to be added to CORBA applications automatically and transparently, that is, without requiring any modifications to the code implementing the business logic of the original applications. To do so, ACT uses “generic” interceptors, which are added to CORBA applications at startup time and enable autonomic behavior to be introduced later at runtime. We have developed ACT/J, a prototype of ACT in Java. We describe a case study in which ACT/J is used to introduce three types of autonomic behavior (self-healing, self-optimization, and self-configuration) to a distributed surveillance application. 相似文献

The design of systems for dynamic response may involve constraints that need to be satisfied over an entire time interval
or objective functions evaluated over the interval. Efficiently performing the constrained optimization is challenging, since
the typical response is implicitly linked to the design variables through a numerical integration of the governing differential
equations. Evaluating constraints is costly, as is the determination of sensitivities to variations in the design variables.
In this paper, we investigate the application of a temporal spectral element method to the optimization of transient and time-periodic
responses of fundamental engineering systems. Through the spectral discretization, the response is computed globally, thereby
enabling a more explicit connection between the response and design variables and facilitating the efficient computation of
response sensitivities. Furthermore, the response is captured in a higher order manner to increase analysis accuracy. Two
applications of the coupling of dynamic response optimization with the temporal spectral element method are demonstrated.
The first application, a one-degree-of-freedom, linear, impact absorber, is selected from the auto industry, and tests the
ability of the method to treat transient constraints over a large-time interval. The second application, a related mass-spring-damper
system, shows how the method can be used to obtain work and amplitude optimal time-periodic control force subject to constraints
over a periodic time interval.

The US workforce is aging. At the same time, there are a record number of open positions in the transportation sector, which has traditionally been a well-paying, but stressful and schedule-dependent, occupation. Due to increasing longevity, need, and ability to work, a possible solution to the transportation workforce shortfall may lie within the retention and recruitment of older workers. This paper uses a socio-technical framework to examine the pertinent, though scant, literature and data related to older workforce demographics and operational needs, the regulatory environment, requisite knowledge, skills and abilities, and application of support technology and training. Although there is evidence of age-related changes in physiology and cognition, the current science remains unable to resolve how an older workforce may most appropriately be applied to transportation to maximize system safety and minimize negative impact to worker well-being. 相似文献

The rapidly increasing solar conversion efficiency (PCE) of hybrid organic–inorganic perovskite (HOIP) thin-film semiconductors has triggered interest in their use for direct solar-driven water splitting to produce hydrogen. However, application of these low-cost, electronic-structure-tunable HOIP tandem photoabsorbers has been hindered by the instability of the photovoltaic-catalyst-electrolyte (PV+E) interfaces. Here, photolytic water splitting is demonstrated using an integrated configuration consisting of an HOIP/n+silicon single junction photoabsorber and a platinum (Pt) thin film catalyst. An extended electrochemical (EC) lifetime in alkaline media is achieved using titanium nitride on both sides of the Si support to eliminate formation of insulating silicon oxide, and as an effective diffusion barrier to allow high-temperature annealing of the catalyst/TiO2-protected-n+silicon interface necessary to retard electrolytic corrosion. Halide composition is examined in the (FA1-xCsx)PbI3 system with a bandgap suitable for tandem operation. A fill factor of 72.5% is achieved using a Spiro-OMeTAD-hole-transport-layer (HTL)-based HOIP/n+Si solar cell, and a high photocurrent density of −15.9 mA cm−2 (at 0 V vs reversible hydrogen electrode) is attained for the HOIP/n+Si/Pt photocathode in 1 m NaOH under simulated 1-sun illumination. While this thin-film design creates stable interfaces, the intrinsic photo- and electro-degradation of the HOIP photoabsorber remains the main obstacle for future HOIP/Si tandem PEC devices. 相似文献
